Oil shale refineries produced oil in China since 1920's till it was replaced by cheaper oil field recovery in 1950's. Today, the development of oil shale is still an option for oil production especially when the price of conventional oil and gas is high. Consequently, many state-owned coal mine companies, oil majors, foreign and private companies planned a few oil shale development projects in China around 2010. Since then, most of the projects were either cancelled or postponed as the world oil price fell. | |||
